Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Syrian settlement, Alexander Lavrentiev, told the Turkish side at the negotiations of the “Astana” format about the need to resolve the issue with the territorial integrity of Syria, reports RIA Novosti.
According to him, all parties are interested in the situation in Syria stabilized, that is why the Garant Countries of the “Astana” process (Iran, the Russian Federation, Turkey) are talking about the commitment to sovereignty, territorial integrity of Syria.
“But, as we see, there are difficulties, they need to decide,” said Lavrentiev during a meeting with the Turkish delegation, headed by the general director of bilateral political relations of the Turkish Foreign Ministry by inland Solkuk.
The Russian delegation led by Lavrentiev has already conducted bilateral negotiations with the delegations of the Government of Syria and Iran.
Head of the Iranian delegation Ali Asgar Hadji after negotiations with Lavrentiev said to journalists about the proximity of the positions of Moscow and Tehran on the development of events in Syria.
In Nur-Sultan on December 21, the negotiations of the “Astana” format for settlement in Syria started. Participation in consultations that will last two days are adopted by the delegations of Garant countries – Iran, Russia and Turkey, as well as the Government of Syria, Syrian Armed Opposition and the UN.
