Turkey-Qatar Defense Cooperation Strengthens

Turkey and Qatar signed new memoranda, paving the way for further expansion of cooperation in the field of defense industry.

The head of the Defense Industry Directorate under the President of Turkey, Haluk Gergün, announced the signed documents in a publication on his social network, made following the visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Qatar.

“As part of During the official visit of our president, we signed a memorandum of cooperation with Barzan Holding, a holding company subordinate to the Ministry of Defense of Qatar. The document, signed in the presence of the holding’s CEO Mohammed bin Bader Al-Sadah, provides for long-term strategic opportunities in areas such as research and development, joint production, technology transfer and system integration,” wrote the head of the Department.

Gergün also reported on the second document on the social network.

“We signed a memorandum with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Qatar, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Sani, aimed at strengthening cooperation in the defense sector. The signing, which took place in the presence of our President, aims to strategically coordinate the two countries in critical areas – technology, systems integration, manufacturing and capacity building,” he noted.

The signed memorandums create the basis for closer integration of the Turkish defense industry’s high-tech solutions, based on the country’s engineering capabilities, with allied states. They also contribute to deepening regional cooperation and strengthening contributions to the international security system.
