Turkey Will Host Three Major International Summits In 2026

Turkey will host three large-scale international events in 2026: the NATO summit, the 31st session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31) and the summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

Turkey has played an active role in recent years both in its region and on the global diplomatic arena, effectively using mediation mechanisms, including in the context of the war between Russia and Ukraine, as well as instruments of humanitarian diplomacy and multilateral cooperation.

Turkey, in an effort to strengthen its diplomatic influence by holding high-level international meetings, will host three significant international summits next year.

Thus, the COP31 summit is planned to be held in Istanbul, and the main conference events will be held in Antalya. Meanwhile, the NATO summit will be held in Ankara in July.

Turkey will also host the 13th summit of the Organization of Turkic States next year, where it holds key positions.

All of these international events will be important in strengthening Turkey’s position among the countries that determine the direction of global diplomacy.

Turkey will set the agenda for COP31

The previous summit, COP30, has passed in November in Brazil and focused on the theme of “green industrialization” as part of the fight against climate change.

At the COP31 summit, which is expected to be attended by leaders from 196 countries, Turkey will set the main agenda and be responsible for its implementation.

The last NATO leaders’ summit took place in June in The Hague in the Netherlands. The event was dedicated to the issue of strengthening the defense capabilities of the Alliance member countries

The 12th summit of heads of state of the Organization of Turkic States was held in October in the Azerbaijani city of Gabala under the motto “Regional Peace and Security.”
