Turkey’s income from tourism in the first quarter of this year increased by 5.6 % compared to the same period of 2024 – up to 9 billion 451 million 244 thousand dollars. This is evidenced by the data of the Institute of Statistics of Turkey (Tüi̇k), which announced the statistics of tourism in January -Mart 2025.
According to Tüi̇k, tourism income received from visitors is 9 billion 323 million 872 thousand dollars, and due to transfer passengers – 127 million 373 thousand dollars.
23.6 % of tourism revenues falls on foreign citizens who visited the country.
At the same time, tourists’ expenses for personal needs in the period in question amounted to 8 billion 104 million 875 thousand dollars, and for tourists – 1 billion 218 million 997 thousand dollars.
The number of visitors who left Turkey in the first quarter of this year increased by 1.2 % compared to the same period last year – up to 9 million 121 thousand 152 people. Of these, 24.3 % or 2 million 219 thousand 38 people are Turkish citizens living abroad.
The costs of the night in the period under consideration amounted to an average of $ 99. At the same time, Turkey citizens living abroad spent an average of $ 67.
The share of food and drinks in tourism income in January -March of this year was 24.7%, for international transportation – 15.9%, and for package tours – 13.1%.
Compared to the same period last year, the costs of package tours increased by 20.8 %, for food and drinks – by 15.7 %, and for transport within Turkey – by 8.9 %.
For the indicated period, 52.5 % of foreign guests visited Turkey mainly for “travel, entertainment, sports and cultural events”, 26.7 % to “visit relatives and friends” and 10.3 % for “shopping”. At the same time, Turkish citizens living abroad came to the country mainly in order to “visit relatives and friends.” They account for 65.7 %.
