Turkish Agency TİKA Built An Operating Room In One Of Rural Areas Of Sudan

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) opened a fully equipped operating room at a village health center in the Managil district of Al-Gazirah province, located in central Sudan.

The opening ceremony was attended by TİKA coordinator in Sudan Galip Yilmaz, the head of the Managil administration Osman Yusuf Ahmed, the representative of the Ministry of Health of the Meysara al-Sheikh province, local authorities and residents region.

Yilmaz told Anadolu Agency that, despite the difficult situation in the country, TİKA continues to implement humanitarian and infrastructure projects. He noted that the operating room was created in the Wad El-Ebayh El-Refei medical center – one of the most remote rural areas of Al-Gazira, about 90 kilometers from the center of the district.

“There is no asphalt connection in the region, and access is only possible through dirt roads. During the rainy season, the village loses contact with the outside world for months,” said a TİKA representative.

According to Yilmaz, the operating room created by the Turkish agency has vital for thousands of residents of the region, providing them with access to modern medical services.

The head of the Osman district, Yusuf Ahmed, expressed gratitude for the implemented project, noting that for an area with difficult to access infrastructure, this assistance is of great importance.

“There are historical ties between the people of Sudan and Turkey. We will never forget this support,” he emphasized.

The head of the village, Ali Ahmed Muhammad, also thanked TİKA, saying that “this day has become truly significant for the village residents.”

The operating room, built with the support of TİKA, was greeted by the residents with joy and gratitude.
