Turkish athlete Mazlum Demir became the European champion in competitions among athletes under 23 years old, which are held in Norway. This was reported by the Athletics Federation of Turkey.
Competitions are held in the city of Bergen. In the discipline of sports walking at 10,000 meters, Demir escaped to the leaders 3 thousand meters before the finish and did not give up the first position to the opponents, completing the distance with a personal record – 39 minutes 45.84 seconds.
For Mazlum Demir, this is not the first international victory: in 2022 he won a gold medal at the Junior World Athletics Championship in Colombia.
Earlier at the current European Championship among athletes under 23 years old, silver as part of the Turkish national team was won by Ismal Nazir.
