Turkish citizens abroad began to vote in presidential election

On Saturday, May 20, the voting process began in the framework of the second round of the Elections of the President of Turkey abroad and at border points.

The Higher Electoral Commission of Turkey (YSK) reported that in accordance with the previously adopted decision, 167 plots were opened in 73 countries of the world.

The voting process in foreign representatives of Turkey will continue until May 24.

Turkish citizen Fethi Barysh, who voted one of the first at the Kapıkule checkpoint, said that he was traveling from France to Turkey in order to draw up documents. “My visit to my homeland coincided with the process of voting. I am proud of my country and my flag,” he said.

A truck driver named Halit Tannryshordi said that he was heading to Ukraine and decided to cast his vote on the border checkpoint on the way.

He expressed hope for the success of the second round of presidential elections in the country.

Bulletins will be delivered to Ankara with diplomatic couriers in high safety mode.

The counting of votes will begin after 17.00, May 28 – simultaneously with the closure of polling stations in Turkey itself.
