Turkish colors plan to bring export to $ 170 million

The Turkish industry of decorative plants in 2023 intends to bring export of products to a revenue of $ 170 million.

The volume of flower exports from Turkey for the first 5 months of this year amounted to $ 80 million.

In the Flora of Turkey, there are 3,500 endemic plant species. The Turkish industry of decorative plants exports its goods to various countries of the world. Among the sought -after sector products: cut flowers, indoor and street plants, bulbs, cuttings, seedlings, wreaths, etc.

The sector products are in demand not only in the domestic market, but also in foreign.

In an interview with Anadolu, the head of the Union of Exporters of Decorative Plants and the derivatives of Turkey Ismail Yilmaz said that the growth in the export of sector products in the first five months of this year was 7 percent.

According to him, representatives of the sector could not achieve the desired color crop last year due to damage caused by snowfall in the rings two years ago.

At the same time, Yilmaz noted that the production of decorative plants this year began to gain speed and this will have a positive impact on export indicators.

The head of the Union of Exporters recalled that the volume of flower exports last year amounted to $ 145 billion.

“We calculate that by August we will achieve a 20 percent increase in exports. Last year, due to the economic crisis in the world and low production in the rogue, the volume of sales of the sector was lower than predicted indicators. Now everything is going well. In the first five months of the year, volumes Sales reached $ 80 million. We believe that by the end of the year we will reach the level of 165-170 million dollars, ”said Yilmaz.

According to him, about 100 thousand people are directly employed in the sector, 300 thousand indirectly – 300 thousand

“80 percent of employees are women who show a great tendency to work in the flower industry. Several people can work in one household, and flowers make a significant contribution to the family’s budget,” added Yilmaz.
