The Embassy of Turkey in Moscow was held a solemn event dedicated to the day of the memory of Ataturk, Youth and Sports – May 19
The event was attended by the embassy employees, as well as representatives of Turkish institutions and organizations.
The ceremony began with a minute of silence and the performance of the anthem of the Turkish Republic. The adviser to the Turkish Embassy in Moscow Gunhan Emre Ersa made a speech.
The representative of the diplomatic mission noted that the trip of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk from Istanbul to Samsun on the Bandirma steamer on May 19, 1919 was far from simple.
“This was the beginning of the struggle for the liberation of the country in conditions of extreme need. The people lived in poverty, with the exception of some units there were no regular army, there were no weapons. It was during such a period that the flame of the national liberation struggle was flared up,” he emphasized.
The representative of the diplomatic mission noted that the historical trip also inspired other countries – so that the expression “think like ataturk” was included in the Norwegian language. He also emphasized that the proclamation on May 19 by the holiday and his initiation of youth is a unique step that has no analogues in the world.
A student of the Russian University of Friendship of Peoples (RUDN) Merich Turgut also made a speech dedicated to the meaning and meaning of this day.
At the end of the ceremony, the wife of the ambassador of Turkey in Moscow, Betjul Aksoy Bilgich, was awarded certificates and commemorative gifts to young participants who took an active part in the embassy events.
