Türkiye will always support the Turkish Cypriots and will continue its constructive and determined efforts to achieve a fair, lasting and sustainable settlement of the Cyprus issue based on the realities of the island. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, published on the social network of the Turkish platform NSosyal on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of the founding of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
“Congratulations on the 42nd anniversary of the founding of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the most important manifestation of the Turkish Cypriot struggle for sovereignty and existence since 1963 and the most important symbol of our national cause,” follows from the publication.
The department noted that Turkey, the motherland and guarantor, will always be close to the Turkish Cypriots and will continue its constructive and determined efforts aimed at achieving a fair, lasting and sustainable settlement of the Cyprus issue based on the realities of the island.
“On this significant day, we share the pride and enthusiasm of the Turkish Cypriots, who are an integral part of the great Turkish nation,” – the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.
The Turkish department also paid tribute to the memory of Dr. Fazil Küçük, the leader of the Turkish Cypriot struggle for sovereignty and freedom, Rauf Raif Denktash, the president and founder of the TRNC, as well as all military personnel who gave their lives for a just cause.
November 15, 1983 Legislative Assembly of the Turkish Federative State of Cyprus proclaimed the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
