The Ministry of National Defense of Turkey reported on the launch of the AKYA heavy torpedo, developed by the Turkish defense company Roketsan with the involvement of domestic resources.
“In accordance with the needs of the Navy command, serial production of the AKYA heavy -class combat torpedo developed by Roketsan using domestic and national resources has begun,” the Turkish defense department said in social networks.
In addition, the Ministry of Defense reported the beginning of the supply of AKYA torpedoes to Turkish submarines.
“AKYA torpedo successfully demonstrated its striking and destructive ability during the combat launch made from the TCG Preveze submarine in the Eastern Mediterranean December 27, 2023,” the report.
