Turkish Scientist: Cancer Will Become Disease That Will Relate To Chronic

A graduate of the Department of Engineering of Istanbul Technical University, Professor Toner, who completed the magistracy and a doctoral degree in the USA and working in the Harvard Massachusetts Hospital and the Harvard Medical School, became one of the three laureates of the prestigious Mustafa Prize, which is handed over in Tehran, the outstanding Islamic world. According to the professor, this technology plays a key role in the early diagnosis of cancer and monitoring the effectiveness of therapy.

“If you manage to distinguish these cells, it becomes possible to give the right medicine the right patient at the right time. This is of great importance for both diagnosis and early detection,” he said in an interview with a correspondent “Anadola”.

Toner emphasized that in recent years, cancer treatment methods have changed significantly: targeted drugs, immunotherapy and cell therapy have appeared. “Previously, there were only 1-2 medicines for treatment, and now there is a whole spectrum. I think that cancer will be a chronic disease with which you can live and not a sentence,” the professor said.

Turning to Turkish colleagues and young researchers, he noted the high level of university education in Turkey. Success in any business, you need to be curious, work hard and read a lot, ”Toner emphasized.
