Turkish Taekwondo Athletes Win Gold At World Championships

Turkish athletes Emine Gogebakan Nafiya Kus Aydin won gold medals at the World Taekwondo Championships held in the Chinese city of Wuxi. This is stated in the statement of the Turkish Taekwondo Federation.

Emine Gögebakan became the world champion in the weight category up to 46 kg.

On the way to the final, the representative of Turkey defeated Ni Kadek Heni (Indonesia), Violeta Diaz Arribas (Spain), Kamila Salim (Hungary) and Aidana Kumartaeva (Kazakhstan).

In the decisive battle, the 24-year-old Turkish woman defeated the Russian Milana Bekulova.

Emine brought Turkey the first gold medal at the 2025 World Taekwondo Championship.

Thirty-year-old Nafiya Kush Aydin was awarded the title of world champion in the weight category over 73 kg.

During the tournament, she defeated Bulgarian Kalina Boyadzhieva, Catherine Bathily from Cote d’Ivoire, Dagmara Haremza from Poland and Great Britain’s Lauren Williams.

In the final, the Turkish taekwondo player defeated Svetlana Osipova with a score of 2:1 in the final. Nafia won the World Championship in 2023.

In the overall standings, the Turkish team won 2 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze medals at the current championship.
