Türkiye Again Entered Top Three Leaders In Number Of Beaches With “blue Flag”

Türkiye took third place in the world in the number of beaches awarded the prestigious environmental award “Blue Flag” in 2025. This was announced by the Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersa on his page on social networks.

“The blue flag and this year will proudly flutter on our coasts. We again became the third country in the world in the number of certified beaches. 577 beaches, 29 Marin, 18 tourist ships, 8 private yachts … Antalya with 233 beaches again headed the list,” the minister wrote.

He thanked everyone who has contributed to achieving this goal, especially the Turkish Environmental Education Fund (Türçev), as well as citizens who showed care of the environment. “The blue flag is very good for our country. Congratulations!” – added Ersa.

According to the Ministry of Association, the Antalya with 233 beaches is followed by Mugla – 110 beaches, Izmir – 64, Balykesir – 48, Aydin – 39, Samsun – 16. In Mersin and Chanackale, 12 beaches received the Blue Flag.

The list also includes beaches in such provinces as the Horde, Sakarya, Adan and Dyuzhe.

In the Marin category, the leaders (10 objects) are the leader, then the Antalya (6) and Izmir (5) go. Among the tourist courts, the championship holds the Antalya – 13 ships under the “blue flag”.

The number of beaches marked by the last year increased: in 2024 there were 567, in 2025 – already 577. The number of certified Marin increased from 27 to 29.

The Blue Flag program is implemented in more than 50 countries. In Turkey, its coordinator is Türçev, with the support of ministries of culture and tourism, the environment, urban planning and climate change, as well as healthcare. Program standards cover 33 criteria for beaches, 38 – for Marin, 51 – for tourist vessels and 4 for individual yachts.
