Türkiye And Egypt Entered Into An Agreement In Energy Sector

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Alparslan Bayractar said that the floating installation for storing and regaging LNG (FSRU), which is in the inventory of BOTAş, for the first time as part of the contract signed between Pipelines and Petroleum Transport Co (Botaş) and the State Energy Company of Egypt Egas will be used abroad.

In his written statement, the minister noted that he had a meeting with the Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources of Egypt Karim Badavi and his delegation in Ankara.

After the meeting, Bayractar said that the parties signed two important agreements that will strengthen cooperation in the field of energy in the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Egypt.

“We signed a memorandum of mutual understanding with Mr. Badavi, who translates our cooperation in the field of hydrocarbons and mining industry to an institutional basis. In this context, we will expand the exchange of technical knowledge and experience for conducting joint research in strategic areas as oil, natural gas, geothermal energy, hydrogen and critical minerals,” Alparslan emphasized Alparslan Bayractar.

According to him, Türkiye has implemented another successful project, entering into a new agreement between the two countries:

thanks to the contract signed between our national company Botaş and the Egyptian state energy company Egas, FSRU, which is in the Botaş inventory, will be periodically used for the first time. Thus, a flexible and effective model of use will be made to ensure the safety of natural gas supplies both for our country and Egypt. I sincerely believe that these steps will open a new page in Turkish-Egyptian energy relations, and I wish them to be useful for our countries. “
