The mining memorandum of understanding signed between Turkey and Oman will create new opportunities for exploration and mining and promote joint investments. This was stated by Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar.
According to the ministry’s statement, the signing of the document took place in Oman, the last stop of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s Middle East tour, which included Kuwait, Qatar and Oman.
Earlier, during Bayraktar’s visit to Muscat in July, the parties signed a memorandum of cooperation in the energy sector, providing for joint steps in the field of oil, natural gas, electricity, renewable sources, energy efficiency and hydrogen technologies.
During the current visit of President Erdogan, Minister Bayraktar and Oman’s Minister of Energy and Minerals Salim Nasser Al-Awfi signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of mining and critical minerals, aimed at developing interaction between the two countries.
In accordance with the agreement, the parties will exchange data and information on licensed mining sites and investment opportunities, as well as identify new directions for joint projects in this area.
In addition, the document provides encouraging joint investments between public and private companies of the two countries in the field of mineral exploration and production, as well as the exchange of experience and knowledge in the field of geological sciences and critical minerals.
We will strengthen the exchange of experience between the countries.”
In a publication on social networks, Minister Bayraktar said that he took part in intergovernmental negotiations under chaired by President Erdogan and Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimur al-Said.
“On the sidelines of the meeting, the Minister of Energy and Minerals of Oman, Salim Nasser Al-Awfi, and I signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of mining and critical minerals. This document aims to find new opportunities for exploration and production, develop joint investments between public and private companies, and enhance the exchange of experience in the geological sciences. Our goal is to strengthen strategic cooperation through specific projects beneficial to both countries. Let this agreement bring benefits to Turkey and Oman,” he said.
