Türkiye, at request of NATO, is transferring special forces to Kosovo

The Ministry of National Defense of Turkey reported on Saturday to send an additional military unit in Kosovo, where there were previously skirmishes with the participation of ethnic Serbs.

The department reported that the decision was made in response to the requirement of the command of the United Armed Forces of NATO (headquarters in Napoli).

Turkish Ministry of Defense emphasized that Ankara continues to contribute to ensuring peace and stability at the international level both at the level of bilateral ties and in the context of the UN, NATO, EU and OSCE mission.

“Turkey adheres to a constructive position in the issue of resolution through the dialogue of the situation in the north of the friendly and fraternal Kosovo, where there was tension that threatens the safety and stability of the region. Ankara calls for all sides to show restraint,” the department emphasized.

According to the Turkish Ministry of Defense, the Turkish special forces unit will be transferred until June 4-5 to the Sultan Murat barracks in Kosovo.
