Türkiye expects specific steps to combat terrorism from Sweden

Ankara will not support the entry into NATO Sweden until its fears regarding the support of the Scandinavian country of terrorist organizations are disposed of. This was stated by the chairman of the Great National Assembly (Parliament) of Turkey Mustaf Schentop at a meeting with the speaker of the Senate of the Czech Republic Miloshel in Prague.

Schentop emphasized that Turkey extremely clearly formulated its position regarding Stockholm joining the North Atlantic Alliance.

“The requirement of Turkey is that the PKK/Pyd terrorist organizations that threaten its security are not supported by countries that want to be allies (Turkey – Ed.). We expect Sweden to take specific steps in this direction, we want see specific steps, ”he said.

Contacting the situation in Ukraine, Schentop noted that Turkey has advocated an immediate cessation of hostilities in this country.

“It is necessary to the speedy establishment of a fair world that Ukraine will accept,” he said.

The head of the Turkish parliament assured that Ankara would continue to make a feasible contribution to the peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.
