Exports of fruits and vegetables from Turkey to Russia reached $ 258.4 million in the first quarter of this year, increasing by 60 percent compared to the same period of 2022. The growth of indicators was the result of Ankara’s balanced position against the backdrop of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The fact of building relations between the two countries on the basis of their own interests also played a role.

Mehmet Ali Yunal, the chairman of the Turkish Association of Agricultural Engineers, in an interview with AA emphasized the importance of trade ties between Turkey and the Russian Federation. Ahmet Hamdi Gürdogan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Union of Exporters of the East Black Sea region of Turkey (DKİB), believes that the observed growth of Turkish exports in the Russian Federation will continue.
“The East Black Sea region of Turkey is the leader in export to Russia, primarily fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and fish products. Along with this, export includes other products such as building materials,” he said.
Gürdogan also emphasized the great significance of the Russian market for Turkey.
