Türkiye increased export in Russian Federation of fruit and vegetables

Exports of fruits and vegetables from Turkey to Russia reached $ 258.4 million in the first quarter of this year, increasing by 60 percent compared to the same period of 2022. This was reported by the correspondent of the Agency “Anadolu” with reference to the data of the Institute of Statistics of Turkey (Tüi̇k).

The growth of indicators was the result of Ankara’s balanced position against the backdrop of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The fact of building relations between the two countries on the basis of their own interests also played a role.

The agricultural sector plays one of the leading roles in trade between the two countries. The export of Turkish agricultural products in the Russian Federation is 18 percent of the total exports to this country.

The export of tobacco (by 271.4 percent) increased most of all over the period under consideration. The following are fruits and vegetables (265 percent), olive (231.5 percent), cereals, legumes, oil crops (161.4 percent).

Mehmet Ali Yunal, the chairman of the Turkish Association of Agricultural Engineers, in an interview with AA emphasized the importance of trade ties between Turkey and the Russian Federation. According to him, the fact that countries purchase the products they need from each other brings benefits to many sectors of the economy. He noted that this is primarily concerned with agriculture.

“Russia is a priority market for our manufacturers. In this context, the Russian market is very important for the agricultural sector of Turkey. This is a leading country in which we export agricultural products, primarily fresh fruits, dried fruits and vegetables. I believe that our export It will increase in Russia to Russia. This one will positively affect the agricultural industry, ”he said.

Ahmet Hamdi Gürdogan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Union of Exporters of the East Black Sea region of Turkey (DKİB), believes that the observed growth of Turkish exports in the Russian Federation will continue.

“The East Black Sea region of Turkey is the leader in export to Russia, primarily fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and fish products. Along with this, export includes other products such as building materials,” he said.

Gürdogan also emphasized the great significance of the Russian market for Turkey.

According to him, in January-April of this year, 22 industries were exported from the Turkish trabzon to Russia in the amount of 86 million 189 thousand dollars. He added that in January-April of 2022, 3 billion 200 million dollars were exported from Turkey to Russia to Russia.
