Turkey at the beginning of this year occupied 18th place in the world in terms of population. This is stated in the ballot of the Institute of Statistics of Turkey (Tüi̇k), dedicated to the World Population Day.
Tüi̇k noted that according to the results of 2022, the population of the planet reached 8 billion people, and directly the population of Turkey amounted to 85,279,553 people.
In 1999, the world population reached 6 billion, in 2011 it reached 7 billion people.
According to the UN, in 2022, China remains the leader in the world of the world among countries – 1 billion 425 million 887 thousand 337 people. The second place is occupied by India – 1 billion 417 million 173 million 173 people, the third USA – 338 million 289 thousand . 857 people.
The top 3 countries account for 39.9 percent of the world’s population.
Turkey with a population of 85 million 279 thousand 553 people ranks 18th among countries in the number of citizens. The share of Turkey was 1.1 percent.
At the same time, the share of the young population in Turkey was 15.2 percent, which is the highest rate among European countries.
The share of representatives of the older generation in Turkey amounted to 9.9 percent, which is much lower than the indicators of the EU countries.
