Türkiye Was Elected To FAO Council

Türkiye was elected a member of the Council of the Food and Agricultural UN (FAO) Council, which is part of the structure of the highest leadership of the organization.

According to information received from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey, the process of elections to the Council of the FAO is completed.

In the course of nomination of candidates, Türkiye, France, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus participated in the elections. According to the results of voting, Türkiye was elected a member of the Council from the European group for the period 2025-2028.

Representatives of 141 countries took part in the vote. Türkiye received 127 votes. The joint candidacy of France and Italy gained 114 votes, and the partnership of Serbia and Ukraine – 90 votes, also securing places in the council.

Russia and Belarus were not elected according to the results of the vote.
