The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is disappointed with the decision of the Tbilisi City Court to reject the defense of the citizen of Ukraine Mikhail Saakashvili to delay or his release from punishment in connection with a difficult state of health.
This is stated in the message of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
It indicates that the court did not take into account the conclusion of doctors about the severity of Saakashvili’s disease and refused to translate it abroad for treatment.
“Georgian authorities should immediately stop taking political accounts with a Ukrainian citizen, guarantee compliance with his rights and transfer it to Ukraine,” the report said.
“Foreign Ministry of Ukraine will continue to defend the interests of a citizen of Ukraine Saakashvili, who should be released,” the press service of the Foreign Ministry emphasizes.
