Ukraine imposed sanctions against relatives of Bidzina Ivanishvili

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky introduced the decision of the country’s national security Council on sanctions. “Echo of the Caucasus” reports that restrictions, in particular, were introduced against relatives and partners of the Georgian billionaire, ex-Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili.

The sanctions list included: Alexander Ivanishvili – brother of Bidzina Ivanishvili; Ketevan Haraidze – wife of Alexander Ivanishvili; School Mamatsashvili – cousin and confidant of Bidzina Ivanishvili; Tata Mamatsashvili – nephew of Bidzina Ivanishvili, son Mamatsashvili.

The document states that 10-year restrictions were introduced against Georgian citizens, which provide, in particular, the blocking of assets, restriction of trade operations, termination of flights and transportation in Ukraine, a ban on the acquisition of land plots, etc. The Russian businessman of Georgian origin David Yakobashvili, who owns assets in Georgia, also fell under the sanctions.

“For me, there is a great disappointment that Ukraine has become the second country in the world that imposed sanctions against Georgians. The second after Russia,” the deputy from the “Georgian dream” Karumidze.

Ukraine intends to demand similar sanctions for citizens of Georgia from the EU, the USA and other countries. Bidzina Ivanishvili himself is not in the Ukrainian list.
