The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine declares the decision to reduce the number of staff of the Embassy of Belarus in Kyiv to 5 people. This is stated in the statement of the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oleg Nikolenko, which is at the disposal of UNIAN.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine today sent the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus The official note on the decision of the Ukrainian side to reduce the number of staff of the Belarusian Embassy in Ukraine to five people. Diplomatic accreditation of the remaining employees of the Belarusian embassy is canceled, and their members of their families stay on the territory of Ukraine is declared undesirable” – Nikolenko emphasized.
In addition, the speaker noted that after the return of Belarusian diplomats to Ukraine, on the principle of reciprocity, the permitting regime of movement be established outside the 40-kilometer zone from the center of Kyiv.
Also, in accordance with Article 25 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine canceled the exequatur of the Honorary Consul of Belarus in Lviv.
“Such decisions are the answer to our state for unfriendly actions of Belarus in relation to employees of Ukraine’s diplomatic institutions in Minsk and Brest,” the report says.
In addition, the Foreign Ministry warns the Belarusian authorities that any of their future unfriendly steps in relation to Ukraine will receive a decisive answer.
