UN announced resumption of inspections as part of grain transaction

In the joint coordination center (SKC), inspections were resumed on Tuesday under the Agreement on the Black Sea Grain Corridor. This was announced at a daily briefing by the deputy representative of the Secretary General of the UN Farhan Khak.

According to him, from May 1, the level of activity of the SKC has significantly decreased and is on average 2.9 completed inspections per day.

Khak said that there are currently 26 vessels with a load of grain and other foods awaiting inspections as part of the Black Sea grain initiative in Turkish waters.

“The Office of the UN Coordinator and Turkish representatives are closely cooperating with all parties in order to facilitate the movement and inspection of incoming and leaving vessels within the framework of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, while discussions of its further prospects continue,” he said.

Earlier, the Turkish Ministry of Defense reported that on May 10-11, negotiations with the participation of Ukraine, the Russian Federation and the UN will take place in Istanbul, at which the extension of the grain transaction will be discussed.
