UN Condemned Escalation Of Conflict In Libya

The UN support mission in Libya (UNSMIL) condemned the rapid aggravation of the armed conflict in the capital of Tripoli, as well as the growth of military activity in other cities of the country.

The statement emphasizes that the mission expresses deep concern about the reports of the casualties among the civilian population and warns about the risk of getting the situation from control.

The document calls for the creation of safe humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians who find themselves in the zones of active clashes, as well as the immediate and unconditional cessation of fire.

“The mission calls for all parties to ensure the protection of the civilian population and join the dialogue with good will to the sake of peaceful resolution of disagreements,” follows from the statement.

Unsmil also noted that she is in contact with the interested parties in the field and supports “all the ongoing efforts in mediation and a decrease in stress.”
