UN Mission arrived in Karabakh economic district of Azerbaijan

The mission, consisting of representatives of the relevant institutions of the United Nations (UN), arrived in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan for inspections.

The mission, who arrived in the region on the route of Agdam-Kankendi, held the inspection at the border checkpoint in Lachina and in the city of Khankendi.

This visit to the UN mission is the first in the region after an almost 30-year break.

Spokesman for the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ayhan Gadjizade said that after an anti-terrorist operation conducted by the Azerbaijani army, they invited a delegation of the relevant UN structures to Azerbaijan to familiarize themselves with the situation in the region.

Hajizade said that as part of a visit that will be carried out under the auspices of the UN resident coordinator and in accordance with the “Frame-based cooperation program between the UN and Azerbaijan in the field of sustainable development for 2021-2025”, the delegation will monitor the humanitarian activities of Azerbaijan In the region, infrastructure, the process of disarmament of illegal Armenian formations and mine danger.
