UN Secretary General again talked about “vaccine nationalism”

Some countries in the world have not yet received a single dose of vaccine from coronavirus, while more secured countries actively vaccinate the population. This was stated by the UN Secretary General Anthony Guterrish in an interview with the Russian media on the eve of the visit to Moscow, which will begin on Wednesday.

“I am very disturbed by today’s situation. Some countries are very quickly vaccinating their population, but we still have countries that have not received a single dose of vaccine,” he said.

“Vaccine nationalism is a big mistake,” Guterry stressed. “In general, we see a huge gap between vaccination in the countries of the developing world compared to developed countries,” he continued.

He recalled the COVAX initiative aimed at spreading vaccines in developing countries. “Unfortunately, COVAX today still lacking funds – about $ 22 billion,” UN Secretary General said. “But now there are also problems with deliveries due to restrictions on exports from different countries.”
