UN: Since November 2024, 750,000 Internally Displaced Persons Returned To Their Homes In Syria

The International Migration Organization (IMO) at the UN reported that from November 2024, 750,000 internally displaced persons returned to their homes in Syria.

MOM published a report on the return of internally displaced Syrians to their homes.

The report says: “Since November 2024, about 750 thousand internally displaced persons returned to their homes. However, about 7 million people still remain displaced people in the country, which has just recovered from the 14-year war.”

The report marks a significant reduction in the number of displaced persons since December 2024. At the same time, it is indicated that the return to the country intensified after the overthrow of the Bashar Assad regime.

According to the report, from January 2024, 571,388 people returned to Syria from abroad, and the number of Syrian refugees who returned to the country after November 2024 amounted to 259,745 people.

50 percent of the Syrians who returned from abroad, arrived from Lebanon, 22 percent from Turkey and 13 percent from Iraq.

The Director General of the MOM AMI POP, whose opinion was included in the report, said that a serious humanitarian crisis and needs were continued in Syria.

POP noted that the MOM supports the Syrian people in the process of restoration and collection and analysis of data on the return of the population is one of the ways to do this more impressive.
