The UN Women Executive Board will convene for this year’s second regular session on 14–15 September 2021, primarily online.

The session will begin on Tuesday 14 September at 10 a.m. EDT with the election of the President of the Executive Board, Alhaji Fanday Turay, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sierra Leone to the United Nations. He will then open the session, and UN Women’s Acting Executive Director, Pramila Patten, will deliver opening remarks via video message.

Following the opening, UN Women’s Strategic Plan 2022–2025 will be presented to the Executive Board. Developed during a global pandemic, the Strategic Plan aims to guide UN Women for the next four years and focuses on meeting the 2030 deadline to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. The Executive Board is expected to endorse the Strategic Plan during this session.

On the second day, 15 September, the Executive Board will receive briefings on the integrated budget estimates of UN Women for the biennium 2022–2023, as well as further consider the report of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions (ACABQ) and the related management response. The Executive Board will be also briefed on structured dialogue on financing the results of the UN Women Strategic Plan 2018–2021.

The closing segment of the session will be held in a hybrid format, allowing both virtual and limited in-person participation at UN Headquarters in New York.

The detailed agenda of the 2021 second regular session and all official documents may be accessed on the Executive Board web page. The session can be followed via UN Web TV.
