United States can boycott Olympics in China

The United States is considering the possibility of a diplomatic boycott of the Olympic Games in Beijing, confirmed by the President of Joe Biden, reports Reuters.

According to the agency, diplomatic boycott means that US officials will not be present at the opening of the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing in February.

“It is under consideration,” said Biden, answering the question of whether the American administration studies the possibility of boycott.

Activists and members of the Congress from both parties sought from the administration by Baiden diplomatic boycott of the event, given that the US government accuses China in conducting a genocide against Muslim ethnic groups in the Western region of Xinjiang that Beijing denies.

Press Secretary of the White House, Jen Psaki, stated on a regular briefing that the US Considering the issue of diplomatic boycake of the Winter Olympic Games was caused by concern about respect for human rights in the province of Xinjiang.

“There are areas that are concerned with us: violations of human rights. We have serious concerns. Of course, there are a number of factors when we consider the question of what our presence will be,” said Psaki to journalists.
