The US Department of Justice announced the creation of a working group to combat “cryptofraud.” According to the department, the working group is focused on identifying organizations operating in Southeast Asian countries, including Cambodia and Laos.
The department’s statement refers to “cryptocurrency fraud networks that target US citizens.”
It is noted that “Chinese transnational criminal groups” often convince older Americans to invest in fake sites associated with cryptocurrency. In this regard, a working group was created to counter such schemes.
