United States modernizes for Ukraine ammunition of Cold War

In Washington, due to the lack of internal industrial potential of the United States, closed negotiations began on the seizure of ammunition from the Cold War from bunkers and their subsequent modernization for transferring to Ukraine, writes Politico.

The publication reports that in the United States one of the programs to modernize old weapons for Ukraine has already begun. It is planned that missiles for long -removed from the operation of US air defense systems HAWK will receive the necessary updates for the maximum benefit for Ukraine in the war.

Politico also added that the American Hawk missiles will work in pairs with several launches that Spain promised to send to Ukraine.

Now HAWK is still used in Europe and other countries, but the US Army in the early 1990s has abandoned it in favor of the Patriot system. This means that existing missiles in American warehouses need to be updated.
