United States require Turkey to close sky for Russian Boeing

The administration of Joe Biden requires Turkey authorities to close the sky for Boeing airlines, reports The Wall Street Journal with reference to sources familiar with the question.

According to them, American officials warned Turkish colleagues that they could face prison terms and fines, and the Turkish economy – the loss of export privileges if Ankara will provide services for the supply of spare parts and refueling American companies.

A warning to Turkey was brought by Rosman Kendler, Deputy Minister of Trade of the United States, who visited Ankara in December.

In February, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the United States imposed tough sanctions against the Russian aircraft sector: flights in the Russian Federation and Belarus on American -made aircraft, or consisting of more than a quarter of American components, were banned. From now on, such flights require a license from the US Ministry of Education.
