United States said they do not support Taiwan’s independence

The US authorities do not support Taiwan’s independence and recently brought this position to the Chinese authorities at the highest level. The corresponding statement was made by the coordinator on strategic communications in the National Security Council of the White House John Kirby.

According to him, Washington opens against any unilateral changes in the status quo in the situation with Taiwan from either side, TASS reports.

“We stated that we did not support Taiwan’s independence. And we stated that we expected that disagreements on both sides of the Taiwan Strait would be allowed by peaceful means,” Kirby said.

He added that the topic of Taiwan was discussed during a telephone conversation between US President Joe Biden and President Xi Jinping.

Nevertheless, the White House did not interfere with the speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress Nancy Peloshi to make a visit to the island.
