Unknown Acute Hepatitis: Joint Statement of Ministry of Health, State Agency for Mandatory Insurance and Təbian

The Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan, the State Agency for Compulsory Medical Insurance and the Association on the Management of Medical Territorial Units (Təbian) Azerbaijan made a joint statement.

The statement says that, according to WHO, already in 11 countries of Europe and the United States, cases of infection of the hepatitis of unknown origin, spreading among children, are recorded.

It is emphasized that the epidemiological situation in the territory of Azerbaijan was immediately studied by the health authorities and, according to the results, until now, there were no cases of infection of children with a hepatitis of unknown origin.

It is noted that the situation in the territory of Azerbaijan is carefully monitored and under control. Health authorities ask the population not to panic, but to comply with preventive measures, especially normal hygiene rules, do not communicate with sick people (sneezing, cough) and avoid touching dirty hands to eyes, mouth, nose.

“We call on parents and other persons who take care of children, be aware of the symptoms of hepatitis and contact medical personnel about any problems” – the message says.
