Deputy press secretary of the State Department of the United States Tommy Pigott said that the US administration wants to see peace and prosperity in Syria, and this is one of the goals of the Middle Eastern visit of President Donald Trump.
He touched the Syrian theme at a briefing for representatives of the press.
Pigott said that he could not say anything more about the statements of US President Donald Trump that “sanctions from Syria will be lifted.”
According to him, the United States wants this process to bring peace and prosperity to the region.
“The president said that he wants to see this whole region developing. As for the Syrian temporary administration, we want to see peace and prosperity here,” he said.
The spokeswoman said that at this stage he cannot give clear answers to questions about when and how and how sanctions can be lifted, adding that the process will take place in accordance with Trump’s statements.
