American expert toxicologist David Smith, I agree with the version of the poisoning of the ex-president of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili with heavy metals. He said this at a meeting of the Tbilisi City Court.

David Smith was invited to hearings at the request of lawyers to postpone the sentence and/or release of the ex-president for health reasons as the main witness by the defense. He was connected to the meeting remotely.
Smith told the court that he was evaluating the condition of Saakashvili as difficult. “My opinion, his body is poisoned by various metals. Among them are mercury, bismuth/arsenic and barium, causing quite serious toxic effects. These types of heavy metals are excreted from the body after a while, in the process of excretion from the body they poison various organs,” said they said Smith.
According to the expert, this version explains most diagnoses and symptoms that Saakashvili are now observed.
Smith said that poisoning with heavy metals leads to damage to the brain and, as a result, progressive dementia. At the same time, we are talking about peripheral neuropathy, muscle atrophy, damage to the gastrointestinal tract, liver and heart.
The expert said that Saakashvili needs urgent detoxification of the body, and since there is no institution with such a specialization in Georgia, he recommends a transfer to a foreign clinic.
The toxicologist refrained from the comment on how the substances could enter the Saakashvili body. According to his estimates, this happened before the transfer of the former president to the Vivamed clinic in May this year.
