Eight children forced to leave their homes due to the Russian-Ukrainian war have been reunited with their families after talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was announced by Melania Trump, the wife of US President Donald Trump.
The First Lady of the United States said that Vladimir Putin responded to her letter calling for peace, transmitted through Donald Trump during the August meeting of the two leaders in Alaska.
Speaking at the White House, Melania Trump noted that Putin responded to this letter in writing, and an open channel of communication has been established between the parties on the issue of children displaced by the conflict.
She said both sides had held numerous goodwill meetings over the past three months, and one of her representatives had worked directly with Putin’s team to ensure that children were reunited with their families.
Over the past 24 hours, eight children have been reunited with their families, efforts will be continued,” she added.
