US: it is believed that conflict between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan is not resolved

US offered Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan any support in resolving a border conflict. This was stated by the Deputy Assistant US Secretary of State on the Affairs of South and Central Asia Jonathan Henic.

Speaking at the online seminar, which was held by the Washington Atlantic Council, Henic stressed that the United States is inspired by the latest development of events between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. “However, we cannot think that the situation is settled. It is not resolved. World and stability will be required to create conditions for the return of the population to their homes and for restoration work,” – quotes TASS employee of the American Foreign Ministry.

“We are, of course, in direct contact through our embassies in Bishkek and Dushanbe with the leadership of both countries. We have in contact with their embassies here in Washington. We offered any possible way to support the peaceful settlement of the conflict,” said Henic.

The situation on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in the area of the water intake “head”, which each of the parties considers its territory, aggravated on April 28, when the conflict between the residents of the border villages of the two countries arose. On April 29, an armed clash between the servicemen of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan took place.
