US Secretary Of State Called On Russian Federation And Ukraine To Continue Negotiations

Washington still calls on Russia and Ukraine to negotiations with the aim of a peaceful settlement of the conflict between the two countries. This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in an interview with Politico on the sidelines of the NATO summit in The Hague.

According to the diplomat, since the beginning of the current year, more than 80 thousand Russian military personnel have died during the fighting, and the losses of Ukraine were less.

“We strive to complete this conflict. However, the sides of this bloody, destructive and meaningless war have not yet shown any desire to achieve progress. In this regard, we will continue to call for negotiations,” Rubio said.

Secretary of State also explained why the United States does not support the introduction of new sanctions against Moscow. According to him, Washington will lose the ability to conduct a dialogue with Russia in case of tightening restrictions against the Russian Federation. “If we do what everyone here wants, namely, we will come and crush them with new sanctions, we will probably lose the opportunity to talk with them about the ceasefire, and who will talk to them then?” – said, in particular, the head of American diplomacy.
