US Secretary of State Marco Rubio criticized the European Union’s decision to fine the American platform X 120 million euros. This is stated in a message from the US Secretary of State posted on the social network of the American company X.
In particular, Rubio called this decision “interference by foreign governments in the freedom of expression of American citizens on the Internet.”
“This is a step not only against one company, but against the entire American technology sector and the people of the United States,” the politician said.
Earlier, the EU announced a fine on platform X for violating the requirements of the Digital Services Act (DSA).
The European Commission noted that the decision was made due to the misleading design of the blue verification mark, the lack of transparency in the advertising database and the inability of researchers to access publicly available platform data.
