US Secretary of State: Russia sending grain to Africa will not stop prices in Africa

The supply of grain proposed by Russia to Africa countries will not change the situation in the market and will not solve the problem of rising prices. This statement was made by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Interfax reports.

“Russia, apparently, expressed the idea of the supply of 50 thousand tons of grain in five or six countries. (…) What Russia offers is a drop in the sea. It does not solve the problem. It will not stop The increase in prices. This will not change the fact that millions of tons of grain were removed from the market and inaccessible to those in need, especially in developing countries, ”Blinken said in an interview with the French radio station RFI.

According to the Secretary of State, 20 million tons of grain were exported in the framework of the Black Sea Grain Initiative in developing countries.

“50 thousand tons proposed by Russia, against 20 million tons exported in accordance with the agreement, is incomparable,” he said.

Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with the government stated that the Russian Federation is not an opponent of a “grain transaction” and is ready to return to it as soon as all the main conditions nominated by the Russian side are met.
