The US Congress Senate approved a bill on defense costs in the amount of $ 880 billion. At the same time, a version was adopted, different from the original proposed in the House of Congress, C-SPAN TV channel reports.
Among the differences between the versions of the House of Representatives and the Senate is the issue of a ban for women military personnel at the expense of state medical insurance to have abortion in other states, which was raised by the Republicans in the lower house of the American parliament. The Senate with a democratic majority also insists on continuing the allocation of funds for operations to change sex for military personnel.
These and other contradictions will have to be decided by the conciliation commission before the bill is sent to the signature of US President Joe Biden.
In the defense budget, the allocation of $ 80 million for the operational-tactical ATACMS missile systems for Ukraine, as well as $ 300 million as part of the security assistance initiative.
Earlier, the US Senate did not support the amendment to the defense budget to restrict military assistance to Kyiv.
