US will place nuclear weapons in Turkey and Britain

US authorities decided to accommodate their nuclear weapons in the UK: this country came to the list of those where the infrastructure for the storage of “special weapons” should be located. There are already Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy and Turkey on this list – in each of them there are approximately 100 hydrogen American bombs B61. This is evidenced by the US defense budget for 2023, attention to the document is drawn to the publication The Guardian and “Country”.

Air Base of the Royal Air Force of the UK Lakenchit (100 kilometers from London) has already begun to modernize so that in the future it was possible to place the fighters-bombers of the new generation F-35A Lightning, capable of carrying a nuclear charge.

“NATO completes the thirteenth-year investment program in the infrastructure worth $ 384 million at storage facilities in Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Great Britain and Turkey to improve security, communication and equipment systems,” the document says.

USA kept their nuclear weapons in Britain for more than half a century since 1952. They brought them out in 2008: partly because B61 bombs are outdated, partly – within the framework of the disarmament program of nuclear powers. As the Guardian notes, the American authorities have changed their attitude to this issue after the start of the war in Ukraine.
