USA on protests in Armenia

The United States urge the Armenian authorities to show restraint, and protesters to refrain from violence and respect the rule of law and democracy. This was stated by the representative of the US State Department Ned Price, commenting on protests demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

“As for the protests in Armenia – as you know, we had a strategic dialogue with the Armenian side last week. And it was on this forum that we confirmed our mutual commitment to the democratic development of Armenia and the US support for the strength of the South Caucasus.

We believe that peaceful protests are an element of the open political system. We fully support the main freedom of expression of opinions and peaceful meetings. We urge people to express our opinion peacefully. We urge the authorities to show restraint and urge the protesters to refrain from violence and respect the rule of law and democracy in Armenia. “
