In the capital of Uzbekistan Tashkent, the Uzbek-Turkish business forum was held with the participation of representatives of the Assembly of Exporters of Turkey (TİM).
The event was organized by the Assembly of Turkish Exporters with the assistance of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan. The forum was attended by more than 30 Turkish companies – members of TİM, as well as numerous Uzbek entrepreneurs and representatives of business circles at a high level.
Member of the Tİm Board Birol Jolep, speaking at the opening of the forum, noted that the Assembly is united by an export union representing over 150 thousand exporters working in 27 different sectors.
He emphasized that thanks to trading delegations, exhibitions, procurement missions and implemented TİM projects, it promotes the production potential and a variety of Turkish products in the international arena.
Noting the historical role of the region in international trade and the significance of cities on the Great Silk Road, Jolep emphasized that Tashkent, as in the past, continues to be an important regional logistics center. In this context, according to him, the strengthening of cooperation with Uzbekistan is of particular importance for Ti̇m.
Jolepe noted that Turkish-Uzbek relations are sequentially strengthened in all directions, and the conduct of the current forum will contribute to the further development of bilateral trade and economic ties.
He recalled that Uzbekistan is one of the key trading partners of Turkey: in 2023, the volume of Turkish exports to Uzbekistan amounted to $ 2.2 billion, and in the first quarter of this year – $ 457 million.
According to him, Türkiye takes the fourth place among the countries in which Uzbekistan exports its products, and fifth place in terms of the volume of Uzbek imports. He emphasized that the purpose of the parties is to increase the volume of bilateral turnover first to $ 5 billion, and then up to 10 billion
“In order to achieve this goal, we must act more decisively and consistently. Increasing mutual cooperation in areas such as defense industry, energy, chemistry, automotive, textiles, sewing, agriculture and infrastructure, is one of our priorities. As an export community, we strive to strengthen our presence in such a dynamic market as Uzbekistan,” – He noted.
Having emphasized a high level of competition in all sectors, Jolep said that Türkiye is a country that has proved its solidity due to high quality and developed production base.
“We continue the supply of goods and services to our partners, strengthening the status of a reliable supplier,” he added.
