President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the acting deputy prime minister of Afghanistan Mullah Abdul Gani Baradar on the sidelines of the OEC summit, discussed the strengthening of trade and economic cooperation and the implementation of key infrastructure projects.
According to the press service of the head of Uzbekistan, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the areas of trade, transport, logistics and energy.
Particular attention was paid to the activation of business contacts and the expansion of production cooperation.
The stable growth of bilateral turnover is noted, as well as an increase in the number of joint ventures.
In May, in Kabul and Mazari-Sharif, the trading houses of Uzbekistan were opened, and in June the parties signed an agreement on preferential trade.
The President of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of developing border trade, creating the appropriate infrastructure and promoting projects in industries such as mineral mining, textile and pharmaceutical industries, production of building materials and agricultural processing.
The meeting also confirmed the need to accelerate the implementation of one of the key regional infrastructure projects – the construction of the Transfgan railway, capable of giving a new impetus to regional integration and logistics relations between central and South Asia.
