At the Kuksaroy residence, negotiations were held between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in a narrow format. The press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported this on Monday, November 17.
It was emphasized that the current state visit will be an important step towards further strengthening the Uzbek-Turkmen relations of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership, which have become exemplary in recent years.
The positive dynamics and active contacts in all directions were noted with satisfaction. Meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council, as well as cultural events, are held regularly.
On the eve of the visit, Days of Culture and film screenings of Turkmenistan were held with great furor in Urgench and Tashkent. Last year, trade turnover exceeded $1 billion. The volume of cargo transportation is growing, including through the port of Turkmenbashi.
Particular attention is paid to increasing mutual trade, promoting effective cooperation in industry, energy, transport, mechanical engineering, agriculture and water management.
The importance of further expanding interregional exchanges was noted. An agreement was reached to hold the third Forum of Regions in the city of Khiva.
An exchange of views on issues of the regional and international agenda also took place. Negotiations continued in an expanded format with the participation of official delegations of the two countries.
