State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, who is in Baku on a visit, and the speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarov discussed the development of bilateral relations, trade, education and intercultural communication.
According to the “Duma TV”, the meeting was noted by the growth in the turnover of the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan: from January to June 2022, it amounted to $ 1.67 billion and increased by 9.9%compared to the same period of 2022. Volodin emphasized that the relations of the two countries in this area are developing dynamically.
According to Vyacheslav Volodin, deputies of the State Duma and Milli Majlis, it is necessary to activate the interaction for the legislative support of decisions of the heads of state, in particular the declaration of allied interaction.
“There are eight roadmaps as a result of a signed declaration. They need legislative accompaniment. It will be correct if our relevant committees begin to work out these areas so that we contribute to this work,” said Vyacheslav Volodin.
In turn, Sahiba Gafarova emphasized that this document has become a new stage in the development of bilateral relations.
“It is important that, within the framework of the parliamentary measurement, we have a summons that implements the solutions of the heads of state. Therefore, it would be correct to discuss new formats of interaction,” Volodin believes. Such a format, at the suggestion of Vyacheslav Volodin, may be the parliamentary conference of the Caspian countries to discuss strategic issues – safety, shipping, ecology and environmental protection. The State Duma is ready to prepare an appropriate appeal to the legislative bodies of the countries of the region.
